Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason why so few engage in it.

Richard and I spent a great day at Weston and Beth Walker’s farm just east of Bona, Missouri today while Kit Pharo of Pharo Cattle Co. evaluated the bulls Weston and Beth had been growing out.

They put each bull between the two groups of evaluators and rated them on various categories including fleshing ability, thickness, muscling, masculinity and disposition.

Then Kit would pass the bulls onto Richard . . .

. . . who would take them up to the scales.

Regina measured their hip height (for frame score).

Clay Nash, from Tallgrass Beef, ultrasounded for marbling and rib-eye size and shape.
